Falafel

Ingredients

350g of chickpeas

½ bunch of parsley

½ bunch of cilantro

1 onion

3 garlic gloves

1 tablespoon of breadcrumbs

2 tablespoon of flour

½ tablespoon of baking powder

1 teaspoon of paprika

1 teaspoon of cumin

½ tablespoon of salt

Directions

  1. (One day in advance). Soak the dried chickpeas overnight. Then drain and rinse them.
  2. Add the chickpeas, parsley, cilantro, onion, garlic, salt and spices to a food processor. Pulse all ingredients together until all is well combined.
  3. Transfer falafel mixture to a bowl. Then add the breadcrumbs, flour and baking powder and stir with a spoon until it is fully combined.
  4. Shape your falafel mixture into round balls. (It helps to have wet hands as you form the balls).
  5. Fill a medium saucepan with vegetable oil. Heat the oil over medium heat, the carrefully drop the falafel balls into oil. Let them fry until golden brown.
  6. Serve the falafel immediately. Serve them with tahini sauce or hummus.
